First of Two, Out of Town Trips

Today I am leaving for the WB Ranch in Whitney, TX for a three day "business retreat" with my fellow Twogether in Texas co-workers. We will be learning a new curriculum to teach in our marriage education classes.

The WB Ranch has several fun activities that we plan to work into our training schedule. We will go on an Exotic Animal Watch, Build Model Rockets, participate in a Culinary Challenge and a Initiative Challenge as well as learn about a marriage curriculum called "Couple Check Up!"

I will be away from the family until Friday evening! I am going to miss them, but I am sure I will have fun with the team.

Parting Ways with YTB

Jamie and I have decided to part ways with YTB Travel. Let's just say, we felt we were not being delt with in a totally honest way. Saying that, if you have any travel needs go to the more well known companies like: Hotels.com, Expedia.com, or Travelocity.com, among others.

New Job Possibility & Other Stuff.

Today I found out that the High School in the school district my children attend has a Social Studies teacher position open. I quickly called to verify that the district had my current application and resume and then I e-mailed my resume and a nice cover letter to the Principal. Pray that I at least get an interview. It would be great to work on the same schedule as my kids.

I am so looking forward to the Texas Rangers baseball game on July 12th. I haven't been to a game all year and I am itching for some live baseball. I hope to see several Rangers who have made the All-Star team this year. Some of our Rangers deserve to be on the team.

Our home-based business Four English Peas Travel is slowly picking up a few clients. The recent rise in gas prices may be affecting the number of people who plan to travel this year. I also have created a Facebook account for anyone who cares to view it. It is sort of like a blog, but not.

I plan on doing the "If Your Life Was a Movie" blog about the music soundtrack sometime soon. Just haven't had a lot of free time at home recently.

Calling All Prayer Warriors, We Need Some Prayers

The Devil seems very determined to keep my family from having a great summer.
It's time we do a little fighting back! So pray hard fellow saints, pray hard!

First prayer request...My wife, Jamie, had her first mammogram early last month. (Click here for more information about that.) It seemed the doctor found something so they scheduled her for a follow up visit, which happened today. After a second test, the doctor decided to perform a biopsy on the "abnormality". It is probably not anything to worry about, but of course we are concerned. Her mother and both her grand-mothers are survivors of breast cancer.

Second prayer request...I found out today that the Adult Education Program at Kilgore College is doing a little "reorganization" and as a result, I will no longer be employed as of July 31st. So, just like last summer, I will be job hunting. So far I have found out that 3 school districts near me, including my last employer, are looking for Social Studies or History teachers. I am even checking out a possible General Manager position at a local hotel chain. It's a start.

Third prayer request... My wife and I wish you to pray for the success of our new home-based business. We recently signed up to be on-line travel agents. In a couple of past blogs I have mentioned that my wife and I have considered starting a new home-based business. We would be joining a company called...YTB International. This company is considered to be a fast growing online travel agency that functions through a variety of individual licenced travel agents who work from home through their own web-sites. My wife and I have a blogger acquaintance who is a YTB agent. They have offered to help us in any way to succeed in this business. They have been very honest with us about their involvement with YTB (at least I hope so!). I am willing to to my part to help make this new venture succeed. The rest I have to turn over to God.

We are well aware of the risks involved in being a part of a multi-level company, and we may be ready to take the risks. I have researched the company on line and with the Better Business Bureau and have found that the positive comments far out-weigh any negative comments.
