ACU Summer Camps & Other Stuff.

Over the next couple of weeks, the kids will be attending ACU Summer Camps at Abilene Christian University. Sunday we dropped off Caleb at Kadesh, the camp for High School ages. Next Sunday we drop of Rachel at MPulse, the camp for Jr. High ages. It's makes for 3 long drives (drop off, pickup/drop off and pick up) but we feel the camps are worth every penny we spend to send them there.

Jamie and I will continue packing for our eventual move. Boxes are stacking up and we are getting ready to move some of them to my parent's house for storage until time to move. The kitties think we are building a castle just for them. We still need to pack up Jamie's "office area", scrapbooks, several items in both kids rooms and several books and misc. stuff in our room. We are waiting to pack, the two main televisions, the DVD's, the bathroom and the kitchen last.

For those of you who read this blog...keep praying that God reveals my full-time job to me soon and that our house sells quickly, so our family will not be separated for very long.

June Update

It has been a busy time around the English household recently.

Still looking for full time-work. I am taking a test to get certified to teach 4-8th Grade Math on the 27th of this month. Wish me luck.

In the mean time, my family and I went to see the Texas Rangers take on the Los Angeles Dodgers last Saturday (the 13th). We were watching a great pitching duel until a bank of lights failed to turn on and the game was delayed for an hour and a half. We left the game and went back to the hotel and watched the rest of the game on television. The Rangers lost 3-1.

The next day, Jamie and I took the kids to Abilene for ACU Summer Camps, specifically - MPULSE. We are going back to Abilene tonight so we can watch the closing activities Friday, then we are bringing them home (sort of). Actually, we are dropping them off at my sister-in-law's house so they can spend a week with their cousins. We will actually bring them home sometime late next week.

In the meantime, Jamie and I are spending some quality time together. After dropping the kids off at ACU camps, we spent the night at a motel in Dallas and then went to visit the Dallas Holocaust Museum. It very informative, yet a little depressing. It is hard to believe that humans can treat other humans in such terrible ways. This visit was part of my early Father's Day present. We have also been trying, (I have been trying, Jamie is doing a great job), to eat more healthy. We visited a couple of Whole Foods Markets to try and buy some healthy alternative snacks and foods for the family to eat. It is a great store; to bad there is not one in our area.

Not much else going on and when I do find time to blog, I end up spending it either reading or playing Mafia Wars on Facebook. One day things will go back to some sort of normal and I can blog some deeper thoughts. In the meantime, I have not disappeared, I have just been busy.

Going to Get the Kids

This afternoon after work, Jamie and I are heading back to Abilene, sans the kitty! (My Dad will watch Scout and Schnitzel for us while we are gone.) We are going to pick up the kids from ACU Leadership Camps. They have been at camp since Sunday and the camp ends Friday morning. Jamie and I are going to stay at a hotel tonight and start the drive back tomorrow with the kids.

I have missed Caleb and Rachel. I know that are having fun, but I also know that they miss us as well. I am very sure at least Rachel misses Schintzel and Scout.

Scout is starting to eat some solid foods, but only if you shove it into his mouth and hold it there. It seems he is having trouble, or choosing not to, licking up the water or grabbing food. He still wants to suckle everything. Instead of drinking water or formula out of a dish he will suck or bite the edges of the dish to try and suck the liquids up. I also have to put the harder foods into his mouth and hold it there until he sucks it down. At least he is eating something other than just formula.

Just to let you know, the recruiter position I applied for has been filled. I didn't even get a chance to interview for the position.

Summer Is Upon Us!

The kids are out of school and the summer is now upon us. The family and I have a few things scheduled for the summer, but rising gasoline costs and uncertain job futures are putting a small dent on any further plans.

The kids will be attending ACU Leadership Camps in a couple of weeks. Specifically Caleb will attend MPulse and Rachel will attend Learning to Lead. We will miss them, of course, but they always have lots of fun, while learning more about the God they serve.

In July we plan to attend a Texas Rangers baseball game. We will go on July 12th to see the Rangers play the Chicago White Sox. We will get to eat lunch at the Legends of the Game Museum before the game starts.

The week before the game the kids will go to "Camp Susie!" This is a time when the kids get to spend a week with their cousins who live in Howe, TX. Their Aunt Susie, Jamie's sister, normally plans several activities for the kids to go along with swimming in their pool.

As for Jamie and I it's work as normal. Adult Education goes on through the summer, so no break for me. Social Work does not stop for anyone, so Jamie works as well. At least we will have a week to ourselves when the kids are at ACU Camps and "Camp Susie." We might just spend that time cuddling on the couch watching movies or we may try to go out on a couple of inexpensive dates. It's possible we might try to book another night at The Dowell House, a Bed & Breakfast in McKinney, TX. We loved the hot-tub!
